Club Structure

Because of the nature of the program, the structure of this club is going to be different than most of the other 4-H clubs you may be familiar with. We will not have year-round meetings. This club will be centered around a few educational meetings & weekly practices on the range, where you will learn about gun safety & handling, sportsmanship, and developing shooting skills. There is no substitute for practice, practice, practice.

Here is a list of things you will need to bring to every practice: close-toed shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, shells and your gun.

The 4-H shooting Sports Program has a superb safety record but as with any shooting sports activity there are inherent dangers that require stringent safety practices to be followed. There will be no tolerance of any unsafe practices by team members or adults.  The safety rules governing this sport will be discussed in detail and provided to each shooter in writing.  We want to have fun learning how to safely participate in this sport so in order for us to do this the safety rules must be learned and adhered to.

Shooting sports require a high level of concentration which sometimes leads to undue pressure on the athlete. We therefore ask that parents:

Remain in the spectator area
Let the coach be the coach
Provide only supportive comments
Do not coach your son or daughter during contest or practice
Remember that use of alcohol is prohibited
Support your athlete
Control your emotions and help when asked by the coach
