4-H Project Achievement

Project Achievement helps 4-H'ers develop both oral and written communication skills. Project Achievement allows 4-H’ers to research a topic, prepare a presentation on that topic, and then present their speech or demonstrate their abilities to perform in a competitive manner. This not only include a wide range of topics but also various performing arts areas and ability to demonstrate cooking skills.

CLOVERLEAF PROJECT ACHIEVEMENT: 4-H'ers participating in Project Achievement at the 5th - 6th grade levels will research a topic and prepare a 4-6 minute demonstration or illustrated talk with posters. These demonstrations are given at the district event where they compete against 4-H'ers from other counties.

JUNIOR / SENIOR PROJECT ACHIEVEMENT: Project Achievement for Junior and Senior 4-H'ers in 7th - 12th grade involves the preparation of a 4-H Portfolio and a Demonstration. Junior demonstrations are 8 - 10 minutes and Senior demonstrations are 10 -12 minutes. The 4-H Portfolio is a written record of their involvement in their selected project area and other activities. By preparing a portfolio, young people learn the skills needed to complete resumes, college applications, and scholarship applications. Portfolios include of all activities throughout the year from January – December including project work, 4-H, school, work, and community activities.

STATE CONGRESS: Senior 4-H members in 9th - 12th grade winning at the district competition will advance to State 4-H Congress. Congress is the state level project achievement competition where Senior 4-H'ers compete for state honors and Master 4-H status in their project area.

For the Project Achievement Competition, 4-H'ers prepare a demonstration with posters and other visual aids, then compete against other 4-H'ers in their category. There are over 50 projects to choose from, and 4-H'ers can talk about anything that interests them.

DPA is also a gateway to leadership and community service opportunities which can bring recognition in 4-H. In order to run for both Junior and Senior 4-H District Boards, a 4-H'er must participate in DPA as the elections are part of the weekend events. Georgia 4-H has a robust following in our state and there are many scholarship opportunities that are offered for various 4-H accomplishments!
