Douglas County 4-H Horse Club

Our Horse club provides a place for the youth of Douglas County who are interested in horses, a place to belong and learn. In our monthly meetings we provide knowledge, information, training and experience in everything equestrian! Our youth led club also helps your horse loving youth develop leadership abilities, teach responsibility and encourage teamwork.

At meetings horse loving youth gather to have fun sharing experiences, learning from each other and planning horse centered events and community activities. Horse shows, pony rides, horsemanship clinics and community outreach are just a few of our hands on events!

Do you have to have a horse to join? No, not everyone in the club has a horse! The club does not provide horses, but we have plenty to do and learn without one. Many have joined the club to be near horses and explore whether they might be interested in owning one. Our club is a great place to start learning and meeting people who have horse knowledge and contacts.

We have great opportunities to compete on horse knowledge teams:

  • Horse Quiz Bowl - Junior (9 year old - 8th grade) Senior (9th -12th grade)
  • Hippology

No horse required – just an inquiring mind and determination to learn and win.

Douglas County 4-H Horse Club is about fun, horses, friendships and good sportsmanship in a friendly atmosphere that encourages doing your best!

Members age 9-19 are welcome to come to a meeting and check us out! Horse Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the UGA Extension-Douglas County Office, 6279 Fairburn Rd. Douglasville, GA 30134, from  August to May.
