            Come Check Out Columbia County 4-H New Club!

               The 4-H Cloverbuds

                 Kindergarten thru 4th Grades

                A safe place for kids to explore,
                      discover, and be curious!

        Meetings will be held the first Monday of every
    month beginning October 1st at the Evans Library from
6 to 7:00 pm. There is no cost to be in this club just show

up to the first meeting to register.

Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging (5th-12th grade)

This contest is one in which 4-Her's learn about cotton as an agriculture commodity in GA. The contest is made up of two areas; an advertisement and classifying items in making consumer shopping decisions. Students will create an advertisement with fun facts of cotton using individual creativity. Practices begin every Monday from 4:30-6pm beginning on September 24th from 4:30-6pm and weekly thru November.  

 

Life Smarts Team (6th - 12th grade)

Life Smarts is the ultimate consumer challenge. This is an
educational opportunity for students in 6th-12th grade. Students are prepared to become consumers
focusing on five key topic areas including consumer rights and responsibilities, the environment,
health and safety, personal finance and technology.

            Join Columbia County 4-H by helping in the Community!

              Bring All Your Donations to the Extension/4-H Office!

Adopt-A-Mile: Donate your time or donate snacks and drinks for the crew out cleaning in Our Community. We clean quarterly and could use all available help!

Columbia County Cares: Help others by donating canned food. We will be collecting canned foods annually thru late Spring to help others. Please bring donated items to the 4-H Office.

Ronald McDonald House Charities: Annually Columbia County 4-H collect poptabs (tabs from soda cans). We recycle the poptabs in November and donate all proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House. If you have any poptabs you would like to donate for such a great cause, please drop them off at the 4-H Office!

A.W.A.R.E. (Atlanta Wildlife Animal Rescue Effort): Help support such an outstanding organization! Items Needed: towels (no holes or tears), 8 inch kitchen scissors, 25 foot outdoor extension cords, toilet paper, paper towels, Clorox concentrated regular bleach, post-it notes, large drawstring trash bags, medical grade latex & rubber free disposable gloves, HotHands warmers, ALL Ultra free and clear laundry detergent, 32 oz plastic spray bottles, small and medium food bowls,18 inch indoor/outdoor fan.

World Wear Project: We are collecting shoes in wearable condition. Shoes donated must not have any holes, tears, or cracking, and are not overly worn. Donating your shoes gives the opportunity to help someone in need.

Teen Leader Certification Training

Are you in 9th grade or higher? Would you like to help Columbia County 4-H with important events like Cloverleaf DPA and other activities? If so, then you need to sign up for Teen Leader Certification Training. Click here for a registration form.


                Middle School 4-H Meetings

This year we have 3 options for you to attend at 3 different locations.

Pick your most convenient club meeting at one of our 3 locations. All Clubs are scheduled either the first Tuesday or Thursday of every month @ 6:00-7:30pm from September through May.

        1st Tuesdays:  Evans Library and Harlem Library

        1st Thursdays : 4-H Office in Appling

This year our activities will focus on several different 4-H focused teams and clubs. Each meeting will introduce 4-Her’s to one of our various clubs and judging teams. In December we will have a Holiday party and in May we will have an end of the year party and 4-H Challenge Contest reviewing all of the lessons we have done throughout the year.
