Want to become a Master Gardener?
The Greene County Master Gardener Extension volunteer program is a selective process. You are invited to fill out all forms and applications, complete an interview and submit a check for training fees ($150.00) if selected to participate. Fees will be used to reimburse speakers for travel, professional development opportunities for Extension staff, and miscellaneous class materials. If selected for the Master Gardener Extension Volunteer program you will be expected to complete a background check, attend all training classes and programs and volunteer 50 hours after graduation of the training program to the Greene County Extension Office or projects approved by the Extension office. Applications can be picked up at the Greene County Extension Office (1180 C. Weldon Smith Drive, Suite 110, Greensboro, GA 30642) and can also be accessed by clicking on the below link. Applications are due October 26, 2017. Applications that do not include the signed volunteer agreement form will not be considered. Formal instruction will begin on January 18th, 2018 and will continue through May tentatively. Exact schedule details will be made available closer to the application deadline.

The Greene County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers will be working with the Greene County Extension Office to help address local homeowner and urban agriculture issues. Volunteer members will be available to help Greene county citizens identify the best ways to troubleshoot their gardening, home landscape and turf problems. UGA Extension is charged with providing unbiased, research –based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families. One of the five state initiates of the Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Program is to increase awareness concerning the importance of environmental stewardship.
