This class teaches proper egg candling procedures in line with Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) standards giving individuals the information necessary to obtain an egg candling certificate or license. Mr. Benjamin Pitts, Food Processing Specialist with GDA will be teaching the class. Participants that successfully complete the class will receive an egg candling certificate from GDA. Anyone selling eggs to individuals or at a farmers market must hold an Egg Candling Certificate. Additionally, anyone aiming to sell eggs to a grocery store, bakery or restaurant must have their candling facilities licensed by the GDA's Consumer Protections Division. The license can be obtained by successfully taking and passing a written examination and candling examination, according to information provided by the GDA.The class is open to any Georgia resident and is not age restricted. Class will break from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. for lunch.
