Medicinal herbs are plants that are used for [drum roll] medicinal purposes. In the broadest sense, soft-stemmed green plants are termed herbs; they are non-tropical plants of which leaves or stems are used primarily as flavoring, medicine or fragrance. There is a growing field of research in pharmacognosy (the history and medicinal uses of herbs and plants in their natural state), as scientists look again at herbal folk remedies. Join Professor Bodie Pennisi, University of Georgia, Extension Floriculture Specialist, as she shares her wealth of knowledge regarding medicinal herbs, their benefits and those that grow proudly in our Georgia soil & environment.
